YO:MA:MI does not offer traditional childbirth preparation or parenting classes. The workshops and classes offered will help you to develop some of the most important skills for being a mindful parent – being present, being keenly aware and observant, and being able to make choices about how to respond to each situation rather than being driven by reaction or habit.
YO:MA:MI has a strong emphasis on being in your body – by integrating the principles yoga into your daily life. If you are pregnant, YO:MA:MI will help you to prepare for labor and childbirth while reducing many of the discomforts of pregnancy. If you have a baby or toddler, the program will give you an opportunity to learn yoga exercises to build your strength and flexibility. The classes also encourage you to mentally prepare for and manage labor, birth, and motherhood with an emphasis on relaxation practices.
In this program, you will learn a set of practices to cultivate a stronger connection between your body and mind. This provides a basis to adapt to changes in your life and experience greater strength and joy. With the tools from this program you will be able to maintain a connection with your child and lay the foundation for your child to develop a healthy and strong sense of self.
